NSPCC Assembly

9th Oct 2020

Years 1-7 participated in a virtual NSPCC Assembly this week. It's always great to see and hear from Buddy the mascot who helped Ant and Dec deliver important messages.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, NSPCC have changed the way the Speak out Stay safe programme is being delivered. Whilst their staff and volunteers are not making visits to primary schools until further notice, they have developed Speak out Stay Safe online with assemblies to use in class and additional supporting resources for teachers and pupils.

With the help of the mascot, Buddy, we covered topics like bullying and abuse, but without using any scary words or adult language. Pupils learnt about the different types of abuse, in a child-friendly and age appropriate way, so they can get help if or when they need it. We helped them identify a trusted adult they can talk to if they're ever worried about themselves or a friend. And they learn about Childline, and how it can support them.
