Play Therapy

21st Apr 2021

We have been very fortunate in St Brigid's to have Lisa from Shine Play Therapy come to us on a Wednesday to do various fun activities such as making slime, volcanoes using bubbles.

Play therapy is a form of treatment that helps children to express their emotions, concentration, problem solving and greater self-control, communication skills and emotional literacy, ability to manage anxiety and feelings of sadness, social skills and relationships, self-esteem confidence and self-acceptance, coping mechanisms and resilience and ability to self soothe. It can help improve participation in group work, communication with other, listening skills, concentration, reduces exclusions, improves attendance rates, helps meets school objectives. Play therapy capitalizes on children's natural ability to express their feelings and resolve conflicts through play.

We look forward to having Lisa until the end of term to do lots more activities where the children will get the opportunity to express their emotions through play.
