Online Safety

As a parent or carer you play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online. You don’t need to be an expert on the internet to help keep your child stay safe online. Advice and resources are here to support you as you support your child to use the internet safely, responsibility and positively.

With many families and young people spending more time online than ever before, we want to ensure that everyone has access to easy-to-use, fun and positive online safety resources. Being connected is so important right now, and we want to make sure that your children are safe and happy when they are spending time online.

The 4 big internet providers in the UK – BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media - provide their customers with free parental controls which can be activated at any time. They have come together to produce these helpful video guides to help you to download and set-up the controls offered by your provider. Please see information below.

We have also added a number of links to useful websites to assist you and your children in staying safe online.

In St.Brigid's we use the SMART Rules provided by Childnet to teach the children about Internet Safety.

S-Keep Safe by not sharing your personal information (name, address, mobile number) to anyone online.

M-meeting someone you only know online can be dangerous, always speak to parents first.

A-accepting emails, texts or picture messages from people you don't know or trust can cause problems.

R-information online may not be real, true or someone may not be who they say they are.

T-tell a parent, carer or trusted adult if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.

We are delighted to be working with Knowsley City Learning Centre which are providing us with information on how to stay safe online.  This includes a monthly Newsletter which will be shared with parents. The newsletter touches on different platforms and apps every month which are popoular among children at that time. Newsletters and any additional information will be uploaded here.
