Celebrating Thai Culture at Our School

22nd Apr 2026

We were delighted to welcome Thai Arts NI, a cultural education initiative that celebrates Thailand’s rich heritage through creative arts, crafts and cooking workshops. Thai Arts NI aims to promote multiculturalism and cultural diversity in Northern Ireland by offering fun, interactive and educational experiences for pupils of all ages. Their workshop give our school children the opportunity to learn about Thailand while developing creativity, teamwork and cultural awareness, fully supporting our school ethos and values.

Workshop Activities Included:

  • 🎨 Fan Painting – Pupils painted handmade bamboo fans using vibrant colours inspired by Thai floral patterns and landscapes.
  • Lantern Making – Children created colourful lanterns using willow and tissue paper, which formed a beautiful display.
  • 👘 Traditional Thai Costumes – Pupils explored and tried on authentic Thai outfits from different regions of Thailand.
  • 🍲 Thai Cooking Workshop – A hands-on experience where children learned about Thai food, ingredients and culture.

These workshops were carefully tailored to suit pupils’ ages and linked meaningfully to areas of the curriculum such as The World Around Us, Arts, and Personal Development, while promoting respect, inclusion and global citizenship. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained a deeper understanding of another culture through practical, hands‑on learning. It was a memorable and enriching afternoon that reinforced our commitment to celebrating diversity within our school community.
